Frequently Asked Questions

1.  What kind of trips does Canyon Voyages Adventure Co. offer?
      Canyon Voyages Adventure Co. offers a variety of river trips, such as half-day or full-day rafting on the Colorado River to 5-day/4-night kayaking on the Green River. Calmwater, mild or intense whitewater sections are available. See trip schedules & descriptions.

2.  What river will we be rafting on?
      The Colorado River flows near Moab and we offer either half-day or full-day trips on the Fisher Towers section, which is good for first timers and family. We also offer kayak trips on the Colorado and Green River. See our individual trip descriptions, or contact us for more specific information.

3.  Is there a guide on these trips or are we on our own?
      Yes, any river trip we offer there will be a qualified/certified guide. We do offer the do-it-yourself rental option. If you are interested in this please check our Rentals page.

4.  Which river trip would be best for me?
      Each river trip has its highlights. some are tranquil with great scenery, while others represent intense whitewater adventure. First-timers or families with small children will have a blast on the Fisher Towers section. Those looking for serious whitewater will enjoy Westwaters' class III and IV rapids.

5.  Where do we meet for the river trips? Is transportation provided?  Find Our Store
      All of our daily and half day trips depart from our Main Street office here in Moab. We transport you to the river and return you to our office after the trip is completed. Pick-ups at other area locations may be available, please inquire. For overnight trips we will meet in the morning at our warehouse, directions will be in your confirmation package.

6.  What should I wear? What should I bring?
      Most people wear either shorts and t-shirts or bathing suits in the summer season (June-August). In the early or late season months (March, April, May, Sept. & Oct.), a jacket or sweatshirt is recommended along with wool socks. Footwear is always required. We recommend either shoes that can get wet or river sandals. Neoprene river boots are available for rent at the Canyon Voyages office. Other recommended items: hat/visor, sunglasses, sunscreen, waterproof camera. All items are available for purchase at the Canyon Voyages office.

7.  Do we need to make reservations?  Can we just show up and join a trip?
      We do recommend advance reservations, as we cannot always guarantee trip availability especially during the summer season (June-August). For the Fisher Towers trip we recommend anywhere from two to six weeks in advance.  For last minute bookings you can check availability the day before as there may be space for your party. For multi-day trips we recommend two to three months in advance.
