Horseback Ride and Raft Trip Description
Follow in John Wayne’s tracks on a horseback ride starting at the Red Cliffs Lodge, a film site for the 1950’s western “Rio Grande”. The lodge on the banks of the Colorado river, has spectacular 360° vistas. Your ride will follow Castle Creek with stunning views of Castle Tower and the Porcupine Rim bordering Castle Valley. This package includes a half-day rafting trip on the Fisher Towers section of the Colorado River making it a great choice for the whole family. Horseback rides are provided by Red Cliffs Lodge.
March through October
You meet your wranglers at the Red Cliffs Lodge, 15 miles east from downtown Moab. After your ride you will have lunch on your own and meet at our Canyon Voyages store, 211 N. Main, at 1:45 pm for the Afternoon rafting trip. You will return from the river at approximately 6:00 pm.

What to Bring
For the morning Horseback ride:
You drive up scenic Highway 128 to mile marker 14 and turn left into Red Cliffs Lodge. They as that you arrive at least 15 minutes before your ride begins and that you wear closed toed shoes.
For the river portion you should bring:
- Water bottle – each boat carries ice water for refills
- Swimsuit or T-shirt and shorts, or long sleeve shirt for sun protection
- Comfortable shoes that can get wet. It is best if they have straps or laces. Rental booties
available.
- Hat or visor
- Sunglasses, with retainer strap
- Sunscreen and lip balm
- Camera (at your own risk, we highly recommend waterproof cameras for sale in our store)
- A light jacket for spring and fall trips
Each raft will have a waterproof bag for your day items
The river trip meets at our store at 211 North Main St. Click here for
directions. Caps, shirts, sunscreens, cameras and more are available for
purchase. We have plenty of parking available at our store and adjacent
side street.
Guide gratuities are not included in the cost of the trip.
