or canoe. Join us for a Moab, Utah vacation rafting, kayaking or canoeing
in Utah's Canyonlands area.
FISHER TOWERS,
COLORADO RIVER - Half-day to 2 days
Spectacular scenery characterizes
this moderate stretch of the Colorado. Day trips begin upstream of Moab
and finish next to Arches National Park. This section is named for the
prominent series of free standing rock towers that can be seen from
the river. At over 900 feet tall, "Titan," the highest tower,
was dubbed "Utah's skyscaper rock" by National Geographic.
On this 13-mile run, guests will experience fun rapids (class I and
II) that are enjoyed by people of all ages and skill levels. Both rafts
and inflatable kayaks are used on this run, so you can sample various
levels of "adventure."
Families looking for a
unique family vacation should try a Fisher Towers overnight adventure
which begins at the historic Dewey Bridge. Upon completion in 1916 it
was the longest suspension bridge west of the Mississippi. This 24-mile,
two day journey features great views of "Postcard Alley" so
be sure to have your camera close at hand. The Onion Creek beach camp
affords kids the opportunity to build sand castles or mix up a few mud
pies. At night, you can watch the moonrise behind the towers or look
for shooting stars in the dazzling night sky. Your guide will prepare
delicious meals and you can share a few stories around a campfire. The
Fisher Towers overnight raft trip is guaranteed to make memories that
will last a lifetime.
CALM
WATER KAYAK ADVENTURES - Half-day
Be a part of today's fastest
growing adventure sport. Explore a new world by gliding down stream in
your own kayak. Learn the basics of maneuvering through the moving currents
of the Colorado River in Utah. Your guide will assist you in learning
proper paddling techniques to make your adventure more enjoyable. A variety
of single and tandem boat models are available to fit different sized
paddlers and ability levels. Novice paddlers will enjoy recreational kayaks,
which are wider and more stable. Those with more paddling experience may
want to try touring kayaks (sometimes called sea kayaks), which are longer,
narrower and faster.

WESTWATER
CANYON, COLORADO RIVER - Colorado River, 1-3
Days
Ask anyone who has run Westwater
Canyon and you're likely to hear comparisons with the Grand Canyon due
to its geological similarities and challenging class III and IV rapids.
Like the Grand Canyon, Westwater combines the excitement of whitewater
with the serenity of calm water sections that feature towering walls and
winding side canyons. Rapids
such as Funnel Falls, Skull, Sock-It-To-Me and Last Chance await you.
And so do Great Blue Heron, bald eagles and river otter. Popular boating
options include oar rafts (usually recommended for first-time adventurers)
and paddle rafts, which offer added excitement and participation for those
who want an extra challenge. Inflatable kayaks are available for the calm
water sections of multi-day trips. Advance reservations are required for
Westwater Canyon, Utah's most popular whitewater rafting and kayaking
river section.

Dolores
River - 3 days
First discovered by a Spanish
explorer in 1765, the Dolores River today remains one of America's best
kept secrets. With 173 miles of uninterrupted river, the Dolores is second
only to the Grand Canyon in terms of free flowing river miles. Its headwaters
originate in the high peaks of the San Juan Mountains in Southwestern Colorado.
The river running season occurs during the spring run-off of late April
through mid-June. The Dolores River features challenging rapids, rated class
II through IV, as well as great hiking opportunities which are punctuated
with beautiful desert wildflowers. Another great aspect of a Dolores River
trip is the solitude. Group sizes are kept intentionally small, usually
6 to 10 people, and rarely do we see other groups on the river. This river
trip covers 32 river miles beginning at Gateway, Colorado and finishing
at the Dewey Bridge just below its confluence with the Colorado River (about
30 miles northeast of Moab). Trip duration is three days and available for
groups of 6 or more in May & June.

Labyrinth
Canyon Green River -
4-5 days
Named for its meandering
course by John Wesley Powell during his 1869 expedition, Labyrinth Canyon
is a geologic wonderland featuring layers of multi-hued sandstone gracing
the canyon walls. This trip offers the ultimate hands-on river experience
where you can paddle your own touring/sea kayak down the quiet moving
waters of the Green River, in Utah. But don't worry, you don't need to
know an"Eskimo roll" to participate in this adventure. Your
guide will teach you the basics of proper paddling techniques and "reading"
river currents. Whether you choose the four day or the five day itinerary,
you will have ample time to discover the beauty of Labyrinth Canyon. Throughout
your journey, you can explore numerous side canyons on foot to learn the
secrets of the canyon's previous inhabitants including ancient Native
American cultures and early pioneer explorers. Each year, several Labyrinth
trips are scheduled to coincide with guided mountain bike tours on the
Canyonlands National Park's White Rim Trail. The White Rim trip is one
of the most popular rides in Utah. Contact us for a current schedule of
Labyrinth Sea kayaking/White Rim Mountain
Biking combination trips.
